New York's public work contractor registry, certificate by certificate
Type a contractor's name or a certificate number. 14,873 contractors and subcontractors hold a certificate of registration in the state file of Oct 1, 2026.
Hiring a subcontractor for public work? A dated registration report ($19) for your project file — or your whole subcontractor list checked and watched.
What this is
Since December 30, 2024, a contractor or subcontractor must be registered with the New York State Department of Labor before bidding or working on a public work project — and on private projects covered by the prevailing wage. A contractor must check that its subcontractors are registered. This site gives every certificate a record you can find, read and cite: number, dates, and the answers the registry holds on workers' compensation, apprenticeship and labor law.
Who uses it
- Contractors — check a subcontractor before the bid, and keep the proof in the project file.
- Registered businesses — see your own record, and when it expires.
- Public owners and estimators — registered contractors by city, MWBE owned or with an apprenticeship program.
What it is not
Not the Department of Labor, and not the certificate. A contractor missing here may have registered since Oct 1, 2026: confirm in the state's own registry. How to read the records.
